Photographic the stars/planets

Recommended Posts

Its another of the beginners daft questions (that's 2 today!)

Second night in a row and were outside looking at the moon through the binoculars. My youngest decided to stick her compact camera to the bins and take a photo of what she is seeing. We end up with a black photo:(

So how do beginners start taking photo's of the night sky and not get upset at the results? I know you have to attach cameras (DSLR's I wish ) through a converter and T ring to a scope but can it be done via a set of binoculars?

I tried this the other night. On the camera I used the camera lens isn't exactly in the centre of the lens holder. So if the tube of the camera lens is directly inline to the binocular eyepiece in reallity the it's off centre. This is the best I could do : http://stargazerslounge.com/astro-lounge/129048-couldnt-wait-dark.html

Gave up as a bad job.

Someone else has bound to have had great success but not me ( yet ).

If you can get that then I might as well let her keep on trying. Its not as if its any film to waste these days.....
