meade ds2070 focusing woes

hi there,

As you can see i have a meade ds2070 which i managed to get out with tonight not that the skies were great but i could see the moon but not much else... anyway as i was using the focuser it was very wobberly and as the focusing tube got further out it was harder to move it back in..

So i was wondering if there was anyway i could improve it?also i think the tripod is quite flimsy do you think i should upgrade it to a decent tipod and mount because i am thinking of upgrade the scope one day and to be able to get in to astrophotography and i know that i would need a decent mount for that so what would be the minimum tripod/mount for that?
