cleaning corrector plate

hi every one can any one give me advice on the safest way

to clean the front correcter plate

on my skywatcher 127 mak

its got a couple of smears and smudges on it

in a previous thread some one advised me not to

wipe dew from it so im assuming its quite delicate

A micro-fiber lens cloth and a bit of huff is best.  Never use ordinary paper tissues. 

Avoid using liquids unless the mark is sticky than use a very dilute water/washing up liquid solution and use as little as poss. 

The lens coatings are not as fragile as you might think but care is still advisable.

PS: Try not to worry about a few specks as they will make no discernable difference.

I use distilled water dabbed on, but as Steve said, unless its pretty bad you can leave it alone without any lost in quality.

Actually, thats a good point.  I have always lived in a soft-water area but if I were in a hard-water area, I'd probably follow Gaz's advice and use distilled water.

Pad it on with the scope facing down, let it dry and repeat if you need to. Resist the temptation to wipe!!
