Will too much slewing damage my scope

Recommended Posts

Good evening everyone.

As the title suggests, will doing a lot of manual slewing damage the mount in anyway? I tend manually slew around the sky and I just wanted to know whether this might damage the motors or cause any other problems.

i have a nexstar 6se btw.

I have the 8SE and that can be manually slewed only in the altitude axis, the azimuth can only be slewed by using the motor via the handset. As far as I know, the 6SE is on the same mount. If you meant that you frequently slew via the handset this should not cause any short term problem. As with most things, the harder you run them the sooner they wear out.
