Orion & Jupiter without a 'scope

Hi all,

As I'm still without motors I've resorted to snapping with my camera!

Took this one of M42 with my D7000 equipped with 18-135mm lens.

Next day I snagged a couple of shots of Jupiter, this first one is more a normal photograph of course...

Not sure what the purple halo was all about, couldn't get rid of it no matter what settings I changed on the camera!!
