Wide field incl Jupiter

Here is some of my first attempts at Jupiter.

Think I also captured Uranus in the shot as well, it is one of the three objects in the top left of Jupiter (I think!).

Took this on xmas day so can't remember settings etc but it was hand held with a 550D and a borrowed 85-300mm lens.

Pretty chuffed all in all!

Star trails are just starting to appear.

Not my first ever image (I have a couple of moon shots through the telescope and some constellations) but learning!

Sorry, I had to shrink the pictures and just didn't have time yesterday lunchtime.

Hope the suspense does not build up unrealistic expectations!

Just shrunk them down and here they are. Actually a bit poor cos the resolution is reduced. Can't even see any moons.

They are all taken with Canon EOS550D without flash (obviously).

All are 2.5 sec exposure time.

First and second is 210mm focal length and f/5.6.

Third is 80mm and f/4.5.

Can't remember ISO, probably 400 or 800.

Hmm 448 x 299 is a bit too low res, I'll try again tomorrow lunchtime!!

Ok just recompressed, this time to 1024 x 683.

Bit better but I prefer the originals!

Guess I'll have to find a work friendly picture hosting site!

It's great how you can see the moons at magnification this low
