Polarizing and neutral density

Hi Kev,

Polarising only lets through light on one axis. This reduces the amount of light getting through but also reduces glare and improves contrast. A neutral density filter (which could technically be any colour) reduces all transmission of certain wavelengths of light. There are some excellent treads on this elsewhere on the forum.

I'd go for neutral density for star scoping with the naked eye.

Thanks for that.

Are planetary filters the same as neutral density filters, and also why the need for so many different colour filters - I know im new but I would have thought that this will stop you seeing planets and other stuff in there natural condition.
