When and what objects to use my filters

I have a filter kit that came with my EP kit (all listed in my signature). I was wondering if anyone out there can give me an idea of what to use and on what objects. Do I have anything in there that could help me split double stars better? Tone down the flaring of Sirius or any other useful tips on when to use these filters?

I used the Crystal Moon Filter along with the No. 82A filter for my moon picture I posted in my welcome post. Don't really know what I'm doing with filters so a little guidance would be appreciated.

Colour filters let through light of their own colour and block others. So, for example, your red filter will make red things look lighter/brighter and blue things look darker, so are good if you are looking at things when the sky is still light.
