Noob questions

Hi all from a complete noob. I bought my first ever telescope today, A Celestron Nexstar 127 SLT along with a power tank. OK, everyone has got to start somewhere. Anyway, what do people do with their tubes after use? Wrap 'em back up with bubble wrap? Use a bath towel? Seriously, I've no idea. For the time being it's still on the tripod.

One other question for now, if I may? I connected my Nikon D90 to it and fired off a couple of moon shots which look so-so but is there a better way to get photo shots as, obviously, I've got no eyepiece attached

Anything else I may need to know I'd be really grateful.
