Red dot finder problem

Recommended Posts

I have a red dot finder on my NexStar 6se but I'm having serious problems when I try to point it at an object straight up (eg Pleiades). I get down on my knees and squint but it is not very satisfactory. Is there some way to use a red dot finder in a 90° fashion like a finder scope or do I just need a finder scope???

There are alternative zero power finders that are easier to use than the standard red dot. The Telrad and Rigel Quick Finder are both good examples. But for overhead you can't beat an optical right angle finder. Except when they dew up, which for me is almost every night and within 2 minutes of taking the caps off.
