Celestron Omni XLT 150mm

Any thoughts on the Celestron Omni XLT 150mm over the Explorer 150PDS on an eq3-2 mount.

They are both around the same price +/- £30

The EQ5 is light for a 120mm, so EQ3-2 will be far too small for a 150mm refractor. You will need a more substantial mount. Newer EQ5 have steel tripod which should handle that load better.

150pDS is a reflector, should be fine on that mount

Sorry I mis-read your post, I thought you were talking about the Omni 150 achromat. The 150 reflector is well received here, but personally I think EQ3-2 is a bit light for that scope. The two are almost identical, but I'd go for the Skywatcher because it has a 2" 10:1 Crayford
