Milky Way?

Hello SGL community, I live in Texas and was wondering when is the next time to see the wilky way star? Just curious and wondering if yall can help?

hi the milky way isnt a star its our galaxy. because we live on the edge of it the milky way is what you see as you look towards the centre. you should be able to see it on any clear night unless you live under very light polluted skies if you can't see the trail stretching across the sky you just need to go somewhere darker.

Yea i was referring to the stars in the milky way but im not sure it can get very polluted with light over here but it depends on how late it is and etc and so far ive never seen it. It might show up around here just gotta wait until the moon isnt so bright idk

As Rowan said the Milky Way is the galaxy we are in, not a star. It will normally appear as a hazy band in the sky. The brightness of it will depend on how dark it is at your site.

It is there every night, simply gets lower or higher depending on the time of year. Cassiopeia sits in/on the band of the Milky Way so find that and the mass of stars that are behind it is part of the Milky Way.

Winter Milky Way is not so spectacular as summer one. If you will find dark site in your area from late Spring till early Autumn . Remember, you will not see MW looking as good as on pictures. There will be only slightly brighter and darker areas on the sky
