hello all

i'm new to forums and stargazing so any help would be welcome, i'm wondering if anyone could tell me of any places that are good for searching the heavens near to where i live in bury in the north west of england.

Hi Pinkf and welcome to SGL

I'm not familiar with your area but there's some pretty rural areas about 20 miles directly north of you that look like they might be fairly dark.

A good idea to kick off with would be to download "Stellarium". It's free and will show you how the sky looks from your precise location.

If you are intending to get any equipment (binocs, scopes, etc) then post your questions here with some idea of budget and someone will be along to help soon.
