There are DMK and ICX098 based webcam mods with the new CCD. Emil did mod a webcam and DMK. On astronomie.de there are other mods including a nice board that helps connecting ICX618 to DMK21 (CCD pins have different position).

Looks very interesting Karlo. I was looking at this sort of mod a little while ago... not something I was gonna try though. Might make an interesting mod for one of my spc880's...

That's exactly what I was thinking John , given that the SPC's were practically free !

The mode can help but you are still left with the webcam limitations. ICX618 CCD cost about ~30 EUR if I remember the price correctly. You can choose color or mono. There are also mods with other bigger CCDs (long exposure mod with even more hacks).

Ha ! I have just found the single price of the B&W 618 chip around 30 quid ! Plus the bits from Jan D + 2.50 plus nearly free w/cam- the whole thing becomes almost "VERY TEMPTING"

the problem is the min purchase from Eureca ie 100 Eu minimum However, JD is also offering a conversion for a fee so maybe ......

Moderastronomy sells some CCDs also. Ask if they have 618 at the moment
