Help with power supply please

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have just been rummaging through my garage and found a regulated power supply - see link - 120V 05A Slim Bench Power Supply with LCD Screen Free Delivery : Bench Power Supplies : Maplin

It is a Maplin one. Can someone please confirm whether this is ok to power my Celestron Nexstar 8SE? I presume I just require a power lead for the scope and I am away? Also can someone please confirm that I set it on 12V and whatever the recommended ampage is.

Many thanks in advance, thought it best to check before I fry my new scope.

Thank you!

Your scope needs 750mA so that supply should be fine. It would be worth putting an inline fuse of 1A into the lead to protect your scope. Is it possible to lock the settings so that it cannot be knocked and suddenly up the voltage - that would be my concern.

Using separate leads there is enough current available to also run a dew heater.
