Interesting news. Astronomy Now reported the observations were backed up by independent team such as the SuperWASP.

I wonder if any of the advanced imaging guys here can have a go detecting it?

I don't think the planet is transiting the star, so you couldn't detect it. The SuperWASP link in the astronomynow article is a bit spurious. SW is mentioned in the paper, but they used the photometry to confirm the rotation period of the star; not the presence of the planet...
