Seben Recycled

The Sailor

Recommended Posts

No, I actually liked the crappy thing but it is taking space so as I needed to do something, I wanted to use the Meade as a guide so I cobbled together the Seben mount and the Mead OTA, its pretty sturdy and the whole combined weight is 9.2kg on the EQ5. I have already used it and it's great, also saved me quite a bit of money regards new parts. The Seben gave me good service but it had to go in the end :) My problem now is my workshop is beginning to resemble AstroBoot!! :)

I had to look about 5 times to see what you've actually done there. You put an old Seben mount on top of another mount parallel to the main scope? I guess it's so that you can move the guide scope around without moving the main scope?

Seems a good idea to me. Beats guide scope rings with 6 long, fiddly screws any time, apart from weight... ;-))

Got it one Yesyes :), I can move it, not far but enough. I have now attached a red dot finder to the 60mm so more flexability. I thought I may as well use it instead of lying around. Once the whole lot is on the mount it balances okay, have done a few checks and it works fine and no strain on the motors :) .
