Just a quick note that I've been having a peek at the Sun with my PST this lunctime. There are 5 excellent prominences off the SE quarter (hope I have the orientation right) of the solar limb at the moment - one looks to have virtually detached from the chromosphere.

Very impressive :)

Yes, I saw the same prominences and remarked to my colleague on the one that appeared detached . I am using the Coronado Solar scope which we have borrowed from the Leicester Astronomical Society. Just begining to get used to it and must admit it's a lot less cold than night time viewing!
