Mains Power supply.

Recommended Posts

It looks like Jon has solved this one for you. Modern astronomy know what you are going to do with these supplies. For others though who may be using a supply bought from elsewhere, a word of caution on power supplies in general.

Always measure the voltage off load (nothing connected) before use. A number of supplies give a very high output voltage until you demand a signifcant current.

Some 12V supplies for example will output 19V without a load.

You can easily wreck equipment.

A cheap meter to check the situation costs a lot less than a repair.

Hope this helps.

DC draws current so you could have a 20amp supply but the mount will only draw what it requires. Volts are where you need to get it correct as too many and £££££ are up in smoke. Get a regulated switch mode adapter and make sure it's on 12v before you turn on.

I have a 4amp adapter from maplins which runs my 12v 2500ma mount OKACDC MultiVoltage 4A Switched Mode Power Supply : Switched Mode Power Supplies : Maplin
