glennbech
Hi!I recently imaged the elephant trunk, and have also spent some hours on the soul nebula. Both targets have all (for practical purposes) data in the red channel. When I start out the processing, the red is natrally "dim" because there is not data in blue and green. I was thinking of - Extract a star layer- Discard the blue and green channel - Work with the mono image until I get it right- Put the red colour back in. (Maybe "create false Ha in noels actions?)- Re-apply the star layer.Does this make sense?
roundycat
you don't mention the camera. Best thing is to process it as is and not monkey around splitting channels and making separate layers which get processed differently. It sounds like a recipe for disaster. Catanonia
Be careful you don't introduce colour for the sake of it, otherwise not a true representation of the target.I used to play around with the channels RGB and ended up with false images. Now I leave them as they are, the ratios and only change the colour balance at the end of the processing IF IT NEEDS IT.So many fake colours out there because people think it needs to be red.My elephants in the DSO section now, the blue and green had hardly any signal.Be careful.
