Wiring mods to HEQ5 Pro

I've got a three year old HEQ5 Pro and it's worked fine until the last couple of nights out when it's been losing its power supply. It also suffers occassionally with loss of comms with EQMOD.

The problem is that the "Handset" and power plugs have become loose in their sockets so I'm thinking about doing away with these connections if I can.

The HEQ6 has a D plug instead of the HEQ5's RJ45(?) - has anyone modded their HEQ5 to include a D plug and / or a permanently wired-in supply leads for more secure connections??
