Upgrade from the 75mm cheapie to a Skywatcher explorer 200 with eq5 mount....Secondhand, but got for a very good price...

Not sure the the eq5 is 100% working correct, the lock that hold the 51deg north does not seem to hold the head inplace ! I'll have to strip it and look at it tomorrow.....

went out tonight....nice view of jupiter..

i think motorised RA will be next maybe dual axis and a 10:1 focuser !

overall very happy !

An eight inch newt is a great size for the serious 'sky junky' whether it be for planets, double stars, galaxies, nebulas- you'll see loads of stuff with it, I used one for years,
