registax binning settings

help please using registax bin settings, could someone please tell me what differance changing the bin settings from 1:1, 2:2, 3:3, etc does, i was trying the webcam on Jupiter last night and having a little play with the settings but can`t find and referance to these settings,

Never used the binning in Registax...

In all the other CCD camera control programs I have, a 2x2 binning results in four pixels being combined into one "large" pixel, so the pixel size doubles but the sensitivity increases. Similarly for the others ie 3x3 combines nine pixels into one etc

so the sensitivity increases with high binning rates, what would you recommend for a webcam setting ? does chip size make any differance ?

Don't know - I honestly didn't think you COULD bin webcams (like you can't bin DSLR's) I've only ever seen it applied to CCD cameras.
