Taming my guide cam

I used to have a lot of problems getting my Opticstar 130-M Guide cam to work with my laptop. I had to switch USB ports, re-isntall drivers, turn my laptop on and off etc.

Finally I found a solution that worked every time; I would just disconnect the camera, remove the device from my computer in the windows "Device Manager". Then reconnect it. It worked every time.

Here comes the strange part. After I figured out how to fix the guide cam problem, in a consistend way, it has stopped misbehavig. Now it works as soon as I connect it. First time. Alwways

It is alsmost as if it has a will of its own and "Gave up" when I figured out how to force it into working :-) ..

I owned an PL-131 last year. Don't have it now as I just couldn't get it to work properly as a guider. Couldn't get it to work properly most of the time (as a camera). So you're not alone.

It's a beast. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It works for me now, So I'l keep it, but as soon as I move over to Windows 7 or something I suspect I'll have to get something new :-)
