DSO's are your thing (and M31 in particular) then an F10 SCT is probably not the best choice, and not one on an average mount.. an F6.3 will help, but a wide and fast 12" to 14" goto dob would be better, F5, and more light grasp with larger aperture

Oh no! More choices! :icon_salut:

I get a 12" Skywatcher GOTO dob for the same price - are you saying this would be much more beneficial than the C9.25 - for both DSO's and planets perhaps?

DSO's visually it will be great..I have one, and it's fantastic

Planets, it's F5, so won't go to the giddy heights of magnification that the F10 SCT's tend to for imaging, but nonetheless will give very nice views with a suitable powermate of the planets/moon etc..

Imaging not so great for DSO's as it's alt/az and has no guide port as such (though technically you can guide it via the handbox, though fiddly)

A C9.25 on an EQ6 would be a great choice though.. with a 0.5X FR, almost a jack of all trades and master of some
