EQMOD tools virus infection

Recommended Posts

Last night ClamAV declared that it had found W32.Spero.Generic-091 in eqascom_run.exe, EQMOD_toolbox.exe and EQTOUR.exe. It was late and my hands were numb from the cold, and I just watched as it removed all three apps. Fortunately the scope controller wasn't infected, so I could still play.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

Wouldn't worry about it - most likely a false positive triggered by these applications use of COM (the core technology behind ASCOM). I've run these exes through VirusTotal and whilst there is the odd virus checker that flags up a "generic" warning the vast majority (including the big names) show them as being clean.
