Which Nikon DSLR?

I have been thinking about a new DSLR to get modded and need some feedback as to which would be best.

I currently have a modded D70, unmodded D3, D2XS, D300 (which wont get modded) so its really a replacement for the D70.

I know everyone will rant and rave about Canon but nope not for me I will stick with Nikon, so which is the best AP Nikon DSLR out there at the moment to get modded?
