tasco 4.5 inch reflector

I have a 'spare' one of these as i now have 'proper' telescopes , and rather than throw it , or go for ebay hassle of p+p was thinking of putting it to use, was thinking maybe a Dob mount and using it as a solar scope with appropriate filters , reasonable? any other suggestions?(apart from the bin ;-) )

Please dont bin it a small dob is too usefull for that !

I think a homemade dob mount is the way to go, plus a

Baader for solar work as you've said.

dont worry wont bin :-) at very least will be a nice little scope for the kids to have and use , but definately up for the challenge of beuilding the dob mount. Will be a nice 'dry run' as at some point wount like to make a nice big Dob using mirror kits available , not brave enough yet to attempt making my own. But 12 inch dob n the future is the plan to go with the SCT and refractor
