come dine with me got interesting!!

just got in from a not very good session(clouds rolled in just as scope was cooled!) and my wife was watching come dine with me(yawn!) as i was glancing at the telly from viewing the 5 dismal wide field shots i had taken i noticed that an ex mp call limpet or something was standing in front of some very nice scopes! so i took a picture of my telly,(turned out better than anything else i had taken tonight lol)

i left it big so the scopes are easy to see, the big blue one in the back looked like at least 12" id say

That's ex-Lib-Dem MP Lembit Opik I think filmed in the showroom of the Widescreen Center in London. If I'm right that's a 16" Orion Optics newtonian (the big blue one) that he's standing in front of.

Lembit's father was Ernst Opik, a noted astronomer from Estonia.

Lembit seems to be seeking "air time" at the moment for some reason

Ahh that's the fella, I wondered what the link was to the telescopes, thanks for that. 16 inch! Wow! That's a serious beast!
