At last few clouds

Not so many clouds for me tonight here in Newport (wales), will have to change location as east for me is over the city and behind the house so no jupiter:mad:.

What i was looking at tho was a very bright "star" which has now moved below tree level and more to the north, all within 2hrs.

Being new to all this it will be hard for me to try to explain its position but here goes, getting to grips with a star chart it looked to me to be in the same postion as "Arcturus" and as it moves north (ish) gets lower and now at 11pm gone below tree level, the view i had was colours, mostly redish kinda moving about? this shimmering can also been seen without a scope.

As you can tell i have a lot to learn, but any help to what this is would be great.
