Hi!

I try the cave nebula a couple of times each year. It's become a kind of yardstick for me, that I can use for measuring progress.

This is the September 2010 Image. An improvement over last year I think, and certainly over 2008!

15x600 seconds ISO 800. Canon 10D. 19 Flats & flat-darks. 6 darks. No offset/bias.

I've also created a little composite of my previous Cave nebula images. It's quite fun to see how small things like coma correctors, bhatinov masks, cls filters, software etc make the images better and better .-)

That composite is really encouraging to a photo-beginner like myself. It is useful to see your progress - and that things can get better with time and experience!!

Excellent image and great progress. I am doing the same, ro-doing images I did with my DSLR last year but with CCD for a yardstick.

I have decided to keep my DSLR this winter/spring. Next autumn I will probably invest in a all-too-expensive CCD and redo the cave next september ;-)
