IR filter for spc900nc

Well, I'm going to start what is sure to be a flood of spc900nc related threads, courtesy of TopHouse

When imaging planets prime focus with a modified spc900 webcam with my 200p reflector, how important would an IR/UV filter be?

You'll regret not using one and won't be making the most of the cam -you'll be losing alot of sharpness due to atmos conds.

So TBH invest in one.

Excellent, thank you very much for the advice! would there be much observable difference between these two filters? can i safely buy the cheaper one and not regret it?

TBH if you can stretch to the IR/UV that would be a better choice rather than just the IR- it'll just mean that the w/cam has a better chance, if not go fr the IR block ( that's a MUST HAVE)

The deluxe super dooper absolute cream one just HAS to be the Baader Neodynium with IR and UV included, as this will give the normal IR UV benefits but also enhance contrast on planets

Did you use it for imaging or for visual? If for imaging, what was the difference between that and just an IR/UV cut?

i`ve had the cheaper uv/ir filters in the past around the £20 mark, but bought a better, supposed to be anyway, badder one which cost twice the price and to be honest the filter looked better but i didn`t see much if any improvement with the images, i found the skies where different every night, sometimes clearer than others makes more of a differance when imaging, i went out imaging Jupiter a few nights ago and had some great images, then went out 2 nights ago and had one of the worst images i`ve ever had even after cleaning it up
