Celestron Nextimage reducer

Have just bought a Celestron Nextimage reducer and my question is this.

Once the reducer is screwed into the Camera housing, how far do you need to put it into to the EP holder?

As far as is needed to easily achieve focus. I used mine mine for the first time the other night. With the focuser fully in, I couldn't get to focus so just slid the reducer in until slightly passed focus, then I could maove back and forth to get it really sharp.
