Comets with a celestron nexstar

Recommended Posts

Ok so I've had reasonably clear skies my first 4 nights out and I've hit quite a few targets on my list

However I would really love to look at some comets, I have arsenal pro on my iPhone which is a really great little tool as I can point it around and find most objects with ease either through Ngc or ic codes or by name in my celestron handset

However it only offers ra/dec figures for comets and I can't seem to get the scope to point in the right place it's picking the nearest star instead? Any ideas or suggestions for viewing comets, as a side question I'm also interested in viewing man made objects

This web site gives the current positions of comets brighter than magnitude 12 and predictions of the visibility of space hardware, the ISS etc:

Heavens-Above Home Page

If you set up a login (free) and input your lat and long, it will show you the position / paths of these objects from your location.

Space hardware moves pretty quickly across the sky - I think the naked eye or binoculars are the best viewing tools.
