Solar Activity 27 Aug

A frustrating day with two layers of broken cloud blowing in different directions, occasional showers and more wind than my larger scope finds comfortable. I'm not sure I had the tuning on the SF-100 nailed but needed to work fast to get captures whilst the sun was visible!

The Sun's relatively quiet spell continues. AR 11101 is the only significant activity on the disc:

Sun-100827-1259-CaK.jpg

1259 UT. Coronado PST CaK, prime focus, DMK41

Sun-100827-1537-Ha-AR1101-FLTX4.jpg

1537 UT. WO FLT 110, Solarscope SF-100, 4x Imagemate (too much?), DMK21

Sun-100827-1316-WL-AR1101-FLTX4.jpg

1316 UT. WO FLT 110, Lunt solar wedge, 4x Imagemate (not too much!), DMK21

Sun-100827-1327-CaK-AR1101-FLTX25.jpg

1327 UT. WO FLT 110, Lunt B1200 CaK diagonal, 2.5x Powermate, DMK21

Prominences were interesting.

Like the Ha closeup of the active area, the close ups were a bit rushed ... and I got the impression that most of them had faded in the couple of hours between the sessions. But probably it's a question of gaining confidence in handling the SF-100 rig in less than perfect conditions.

Transparency good in gaps between two layers of cloud with occasional showers. Seeing moderate with significant boiling. Temperature 20C, wind N force 3-4 gusting 5 causing some issues with mount vibration.
