Hubble's Ultra Deep Field

Hi starfolk,

I was wondering - everyone here propably saw this Ultra Deep Field image of a region in Fornax. My question is.. would we see this if we looked in any other direction, or is this a specific region, let's say in direction to the centre of the Universe? Do we know if Universe has a single centre and it's location?

Thanks for answers..

In most directions we'd see the dust and gas of our galaxy blocking the view, the deep field images are oriented so we're looking directly out of the plane of the galaxy to ensure that as little as possible gets in the way.

In principle we'd see that in whatever direction we looked. In technical terms, homogeneity and isotropy are fundamental principles of cosomology - that's just saying that on large scales the universe looks the same in all locations and all directions.

Do we know if Universe has a single centre and it's location?

It doesn't, although the explanation is somewhat complex. This is a reasonable discussion

Where is the centre of the universe?
