A toast to Averted vision....

Just saw my first globular. When I say saw, of course I'd spotted them before, but usually dismissed them as dull blobs. But, tonight, after stumbling upon Messier 3, I was about to move off before my AV kicked in beautifully. I was so struck by the beautiful gold flecks sparkling within that tiny nest of jewels! I'm really looking forward to hunting out more globulars now. It's brilliant to find a new delight where before was something I considered relatively unremarkable. Only bad thing was the rising of the moon, as it began to bleach the sky at around 11pm. Ah well, Jupiter is not far behind..... Wonder if that belt is back....
