Toucam Help

I read the primer etc, my laptop arrived today and i've had it set up on venus, not an ideal target i know but it's clear here this evening and with only getting the lappy today, well...

Anyway, i had no trouble finding it, seemed to get focus etc but it seems to have fringes top and bottom, orange on the bottom and blue on the top (or vice versa lol) Any ideas?

Going to do a registax now with what i have which may help someone answer.

Probably just atmospheric distortion where the different colours are refracted by differing amounts by the Earths atmosphere because of the low altitude of Venus.

What's the altitude on Venus in that shot?

Whatever it was about half an hour ago lol..

So, less than 10 degrees up. I would say it's atmospheric refraction splitting up the colours. Nothing you can do about that.

So, judging by what I have managed, would you say i'm on the right track, bearing in mind this is my first ever setup of laptop/toucam and capture in this way?

Theres an "RGB Align" option in Registax that may help a little, but yep that seems fine given the conditions.

I had a go with the RGB align, thanks for the tip, will remember that for future reference, this is after I tweaked it a little. Disappointing that the moon was in a poor position for me tonight so spent all night on big dipper & cassiopia. The whirpool still evades me though. But the area around cassiopia was rather pretty tonight.

That's a nice first shot. Venus is a difficult subject when it's so low.
