david o Posted July 22, 2010 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Found this on Wikipedia: Pair-instability supernova.As for the formation of super-massive stars I saw it mentioned today (can't remember where on the web though ) that it may be due to the merging of various stars within the cores of very dense clusters.
