Brief first light on my Omegon 15x70

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I had a first chance to test my Omegon 15x70 (Celestron Skymaster clone) on the stars. Only had time to have a good look at M13, and the results were pleasing. Not only is the image quality very good, stars coming to good focus, but the visual impact of M13 was way beyond that of my old, faithful Bresser 10x50. I found observing near zenith quite comfortable from a reclining chair in the garden, and the view quite stable without tripod. I have a Cullman and a Manfrotto tripod available, but they are not comfortable near zenith.

I really feel 15x70 is in the sweet spot for me when it comes to the balance of aperture and ability to use them without tripod. Given the price of 89 euros, I am very pleased with them. ;)
