Why is it that the clearest nights are also the ones nearest the full moon?

It was far too good a night last night not to try something, but the moon was drowning out all the Scorpius/Sagittarius targets I am currently after. So settled on an 'old favorite'. Even so, I had to reduce the sub-speed to only 10 seconds, not to bleach out the image.

In light of these difficulties, I pronounce myself 'content' with the result.
