Thinking of Celestron C90 Mak

I am thinking of getting my first scope and have been looking and looking. I want something small and portable that gives me good views, the Maksutov-Cassegrain seems to be the way I think. I already have a stand. What are the thoughts on this new scope and also thoughts on if its a good choice? Thanks

i was looking at the C90, i noticed, according to the specs, they are not exactly 1.25", which put me off a bit so i bought the skymax 90 instead which you will find has a very good price tag at first light optics

Hi, these small Maks usually have very sharp optics. I have an ETX 90 ( tube only )

that I use on an alt az mount. Good for Moon/Planets/Double Stars & Solar with a full

aperture filter, not so good for deep sky with the limited light grasp, and narrow field

of view means that about 1 degree is max. Regards, Ed.

for an extra £40 ish you can get the skymax 102 for that little extra oomphf an it will still be stable enough on a photographic mount

Skywatcher telescopes are made by Synta who also make telescopes sold under the Orion brand Cassegrain telescopes. Strangely you can buy the Orion Starmax 90 on a mini dob base for less than the Orion Apex 90 which is the same ota under different names.
