Logitech Fusion Question

Hello all, Just wanted to run a quick question past you. I currently have a logitech e3500 and have done some imaging of the moon but as I was far too hasty when deciding which webcam to buy I didn't realise how poor the e3500 was until I'd already bought it.

I've now done a bit of looking around and am thinking of getting the logitech fusion. The only thing is, I really don't want to lay out anymore money on adaptors and t rings so I was wondering whether anyone knew if I'd be okay just gluing an old black film cannister to it with the bottom cut out (after removing the lense). I've done that for my e3500 and it seems to work well, just wondering if there are any reasons why this might not be appropriate for the fusion?
