Reticule alignment for HEQ5

I've got my nice new HEQ5 and have set it up in the Observatory but have a slight problem aligning the polar scope reticule. The reticule appears "difficult" to move with the adjustment screws. By this I mean that if you release two screws and tighten the third, opposing, screw there is no movement of the reticule! I spent an hour last night trying to sort this out with little success. I hope I've explained the problem (I'm aware that you should only move the screws a little at a time or the reticule falls out!). Any ideas? Thank you.
