Solar Activity 02 Jun

A frustrating day with lots of hazy sun, three layers of thinnish broken cloud drifting at different speeds in different directions and bad seeing....

AR 11076 has developed nicely, the solar disc is otherwise generally similar to yesterday. The small "AR" south east of AR 11076 failed to develop.

AR 11073 continues to decline but note the very small bright plages to its north east in the Ha image:

The "crown" of filaments surrounding the north pole is still there but seems less contrasty than yesterday:

1436 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow, DMK41

There is a nice prominence on the south west limb

Sun-100602-1430-Ha-promSW-X2.jpg

1430 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow, DMK21

and a much nicer one on the north east limb:

1429 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow, DMK21

Transparency variable with drifting cloud, good when the clouds cleared but not for long. Seeing poor with considerable boiling. Temperature 18C, wind variable mainly NW force 2-3 (local sea breeze).
