Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope

Well, I took the plunge and asked for the Orion 8" Dobsonian for my birthday. I speaking of the US company, by the way.

The instrument is residing in my dining room in two boxes. I will open the boxes tomorrow evening. Too bad it's not together tonight. Yesterday we had violent thunderstorms in Western Pennsylvania, with clouds and rain today; however, the sky cleared this evening.

Nice scope - congratulations !

It's the same scope (optically) as the Skywatcher Skyliner 200P dobsonian but over here (the UK) the Skywatcher brand is lower in price than the Orion version.

I owned one of the Skywatcher ones for a while and enjoyed it a great deal.
