Could you use a neximage as a guide cam.

What is the cheapest way to guide a mount

You need a connection with the mount (like EQDIR/EQMod for HEQ mounts) which could be used by PHD or other guiding software to guide the mount without ST4 port usage.

Note that NexImage doesn't has long exposures and may not catch any guide star on shorter exposures.

Search SGL for finderguider projects. Neximage is more or less same as SPC900 which I use successfully without LX for guiding.
