Advice required

Hi folks

I recently bought a Meade LXD55 6" refractor.

I want to do some renovation work to it. My question is this -

How do you get the front lens cell removed from the main tube? Does it unscrew/unblolt??

Any helpful advice would be much appreciated...

If the lens cell is the same design as the LXD75 5" (collimatable lens cell) I think you remove the objective lens in it's cell by undoing the push-pull collimation screws and then the rest of the lens cell is held to the tube by 3 nuts which you can then access - they are just behind the objective lens which is why you have to remove it.

Hope that helps.

Jon that helps a lot mate....Saves me trying to unscrew the blooming thing....

No probs mate ;)

I should add that the ends of the screws that the 3 nuts are attached to are revealed when the dew cap is removed - but you have to get the lens out of the way to actually get to the nuts.
