Moon Imaging with DSLR ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

My son is interested in imaging the moon with his Canon 350D.

He will be imaging thriugh an F5 150mm newtonian at prime focus.

Is there any info/software that advises on:

Which ISO

What shutter speeds for differing moon phases.

etc, etc

thanks

Graham

Hi Graham,

I did an hour of this recently with a 70% full moon. I started at iso 200 and 1/500 sec, previewed the image on the camera and then started adjusting to suit. I've not tried imaging a crescent moon but I'd imagine you would need to slow the camera down quite a bit. I took this on my f5 Newt at prime awell.

This is what I got with the above settings.
