Collimation question

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

Did a star test the another night through my Skymax 127. As much as my beginners eye could figure out the rings looked cocentric enough but I noticed that the lower right side looked as though it had a little slice taken off it so it was a little straighter (very slightly but still noticeable)

It was done through an open balcony window though...

Any opinions please?

You'll get a verification of how well the scope is collimated on a star test, but making adjustments is easier in daylight. I think that if the scope was inside, then you've probably had some straight edge (window frame?) in the FOV whilst checking the collimation. If everything else looks ok, then it probably is.

Someone else posted a similar thread a while ago I won't mention any names :headbang: but it turned out to be a telegraph wire just clipping their field of view when defocused.
